As humans, we are created with the desire to be successful in what we do. From the smallest task to the greatest challenge, we aim to complete it successfully.

Without success, there is no sense of purpose.

The command which God gave us in Genesis 1:28 to “be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth and subdue it.” is not only filled with purpose, but with the aim of being successful in accomplishing it.

Through Scripture, God gave us key principles to follow, and in doing so, the work of our hands is blessed.

Key 1. Wisdom

Wisdom is vital in all that we do, and desire to accomplish. We need to ask God for wisdom.

I can testify from my own experience; when we ask God for wisdom, He provides it!  Often, it is contrary to our thinking, and applying His direction is always the best way to achieve a successful outcome.

Key 2. Guidance

With wisdom from God, we have foresight, and the ability to be sensible, but we need God’s guidance to have direction. It is the compass we follow in all we do.

With His guidance, we receive strategy, a roadmap, and the know-how, to accomplish what we set out to do. It could also be contrary to the way you and I would go about it, but His guidance will never disappoint us.

The Lord knows the heart and mind of every man, and the best way to accomplish what we set out to do.

Psalm 32:8

Key 3. Insight

Insight provides us with comprehension and understanding of matters and situations. We receive clarity and foresight to know what to do when most feel uncertain about the way forward.

When we ask insight from the Lord, He does not only provide us with comprehension and understanding, but He tells us of things to come. We know it beforehand, and we are not caught off guard or lost in knowing the correct way forward.

Proverbs 2:3

Key 4. Discernment

Discernment provides us with the ability to make a sound judgment. It helps us to cut through the fog and judge a situation correctly. With discernment, we can differentiate between reality and truth.

Reality can frighteningly present itself, but acting upon truth, the reality changes accordingly.

Always remember that reality changes but truth stays the same.

Psalm 199:66

Key 5. Protection

The Lord’s shield protects us, to thwart all those fiery darts, as we engage in what we set out to do.

It is virtually impossible to engage in any endeavor without experiencing resistance. It comes with the territory. It is not something that we must fear, for its only aim is to stop us from moving forward.

I am of the opinion that that people often tend to focus more on their challenges, than on the direction they are taking. Where you focus, your energy flows.

In this, I want to encourage you, to stay focused on your direction.  You will soon see how the challenges become a distant past.

We ask for the Lord’s protection and know that He will always take us through, and victory awaits us on the other side.

Isaiah 43:2

Johan and I ask the Lord for these five keys daily, and we trust Him emphatically that we receive them. Through the years, this prayer has become a part of our spiritual DNA in the Lord.

My prayer for you is, that the Lord will bless you with these keys as you ask them and that you will be successful in all you do.

Proverbs 16:3
